As a wedding photographer, one of my absolute favorite parts of a wedding day is shooting all of your pretty details! There is so much thought behind each thing included in your details and all of it deserves its own moment to be captured. A question I get often when meeting with brides is “What do I actually need in my details box for the wedding day?” Well friend, let’s get into it.
Invitation Suite
Your invitation suite includes much more than just your wedding invitation. It includes your invitation, details card, wedding program, RSVP card, wax seals or custom stamps, save the date, menu, and all the envelopes!

Rings
All rings! Your engagement ring and your wedding bands. As they say in your ceremony, your rings are a symbol of your love and commitment to one another. The infinite circle is a symbol of your never-ending love for each other and that deserves to be captured!

Perfume
The perfume that you choose to wear for your wedding day is special. When you wear or smell that scent again, it will forever remind you of the day you said “I do” to the love of your life. Including your perfume in your details is an easy way to level up your details in elegance.

Shoes
Shoes are great for details! You might not want to include your shoes in your details because they are your shoes. They might have been worn and have stains, or they might have been scuffed but it doesn’t matter! They make for gorgeous pictures in your gallery. If you have a fun shoe change for your reception, be sure to include those as well!

Dress
This one should be obvious but I wanted to include it just so you are sure to add it to your checklist! Your dress hanging up in the morning while you get ready with your girls, moments before you slip into it, a wedding dress contains dreams from the time you were a little girl. A dress-hanging picture is a must for your gallery!

Flowers
I cannot emphasize this one enough! Your bouquet is important to include. Always make sure you ask your florist to leave or set aside all their extra flowers for me to include in your details photos. As I tell my brides, the more styling flowers, the better!

Well, that’s about all folks! Here’s a tip: if you’re unsure whether or not to include something in your details box, text your photographer or include it anyways! A motto I live by that is often the reason for my overpacking: “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!”
To recap, here’s a list for you:
- Invitation Suite (invitation, details card, wedding program, RSVP card, wax seals or custom stamps, save the date, menu, and all the envelopes)
- All Rings
- Perfume
- Shoes
- Dress / Veil
- Lots of flowers!
Happy Planning!
